3D Stereoviews

A stereoview is an image that is comprised of two nearly identical pictures. They differ by a slight change in viewpoint, much like the two slightly different pictures each of your eyes sees. These differing perspectives allow for depth perception. A 3D image can be seen when these two pictures are viewed through a stereoscope, which is a device that causes each eye to see only one of the pictures. A similar effect can be obtained with animation, as in these animated gifs of Japan. More after the jump!
