That’s Chandrasiri Bandara. He’s one of the most famous astrologers in Sri Lanka, a country where they take their astrology very seriously. Last week he predicted that the government will run into a lot of problems in September and October, noting a planetary change on October 8th does not bode well for the parliament, who may not be able to contain the rising living costs. This is something economists seem to agree with, much to the dismay of the government. He’s been arrested, because apparently it’s illegal in Sri Lanka to say such a thing. President Rajapaksa is a firm believer in astrology, and in the past has even consulted astrologers for the ideal dates to give a speech or take a trip. I wonder what they had to say about this one.
